This book/CD package is based on Airto's two instructional videos "Rhythms and Colors" and "Listen and Play". It will give you insight into Airto's innovative drumming and a breakdown of each of eight songs performed by Airto and his band.

The first section of the book, which is based on "Rhythms and Colors", covers samba (in 2/4 and 3/4), baiao and frevo. Airto also talks about his unique drumset/percussion setup which allows him to play percussion and drums simultaneously.

The second section of the book, which is based on "Listen and Play", covers marcha and frevo, partido alto, samba in 7/8 and baiao. Airto also illustrates Brazilian-style brush techniques, and recalls his experiences with Miles Davis and Return to Forever.
